Professional Growth Goal Reflection

This year, I hope to develop a deeper understanding on how to continue to develop as an educator and differentiate instruction for a variety of students.  With the integration of Special Education students in the mainstream classroom (many students for the first time), I want to make sure I am intentionally developing lessons and accommodations for each student I teach.

The goal I set for myself this yera was to focus on making sure I was accomodating each and every one of my students.  Doing  this was quite the challenge as many of my students this year were mainstreamed for the first time.  Making sure I had a sturdy and clear understanding of my students and their needs was key in making sure all accomodations were being met.  Requiring some students to go to the learning center to have their tests read aloud, alowing students to re-do assignments, giving students extra time, ... etc were all awesome and amazing ways to help students within our SPED department make strides and feel as though their needs were being met.

Another major lesson I learned was making sure each student had access to what they needed at all times.  If a student needed additional help, it was imporant for me to make sure that they had the opporunity to do so.
